Remedies You Can Try Today for Gum Inflammation
Posted on 6/22/2020 by Dynamic Dental Office
Remedies You Can Try Today for Gum InflammationAre your gums inflamed and sore? This is an indication of gum disease and something that you should see us about right away. While you are waiting to visit with us, there are a few things you can do from the comfort of your own home to help reduce the gum inflammation.

Load Up on Vitamin D

Vitamin D can help your gum tissue to heal faster. What's more, it contains anti-inflammatories that can help keep the swelling down. So look for foods like eggs, salmon, and certain vegetables to help you get more of this important vitamin.

Consider Aloe Vera

Another powerful anti-inflammatory, aloe vera, can help your irritated gum tissue feel better. The best way to apply it is by rubbing some of the gel from the plant into the gum tissue. After a few minutes, you should notice that your gums are looking (and feeling) better. Rinse your mouth after you are done, and repeat this treatment a few times each day.

Gargle with Salt Water

Salt water is a great way to fight the infection and help reduce swelling. Take a glass of warm water, stir in salt, and gargle it, being sure to swish it between the teeth. This helps get salt into all the nooks and crevices, where it can help fight the infection. After you are finished, be sure to rinse thoroughly with plain water, as you do not want to leave the salt sitting in your mouth.

Consider Tea Tree Oil

Mixing a few drops of tea tree oil with a mouthwash and using it can help reduce the inflammation. Tea tree oil is a powerful compound with both anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties. Don't use it undiluted, but by following the above instructions you can enjoy its benefits. Then, be sure to come see us as soon as you can.
